Preseason Notes: March 28
After last weekend’s trip to Omaha yielded an offensive explosion in wins against Creighton University and a team of former professionals led by former Thunder midfielder Johnny Torres, it was back to the National Sports Center Tuesday and Wednesday as the team geared up for Friday morning’s friendly in Bridgeview, Ill., against the Chicago Fire of MLS.
The methods have varied from day to day, but the focus has remained consistent the past few weeks: technical work, fitness and finishing. That continued inside the Sports Hall at the National Sports Center on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The pace and overall intensity has picked up tremendously as the excitement for April 6′s season opener at the Metrodome has grown.
It was an early morning Thursday as the team boarded a bus for Chicago at 7 a.m. in a trip that will at least somewhat mimic a typical pregame routine for a roadtrip: After arriving in Chicago in the afternoon, it was a quick turnaround to get to a light training session at the Fire’s Toyota Park training facility. The team will spend Thursday night in Chicago and take the field Friday morning on the training field. There’s no live stream of the game, but you can follow in-game updates on twitter by following @mnunitedfc and @ChicagoFire.
