A Letter From Team President Nick Rogers
Dear Minnesota United FC Fans and Supporters,
Thanks to everyone who came out to watch Minnesota United earn its first victory of the year against FC Edmonton on Saturday. It was a bright, brisk day and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves outside the Metrodome before kick-off.
A few notes on the game:
First, it was great to get our first win! Under the new league format, each regular season game is important, especially our home games, so it was crucial for us to earn those three points. Simone’s penalty was taken with great confidence and Lucas Rodriguez’s second half goal was a thing of beauty (as was Aaron Pitchkolan’s crossing header assist). Between our very organized back line and another poised performance from Daryl Sattler, we were able to limit Edmonton’s chances and earn a second consecutive clean sheet.
Second, it was fantastic to see so many folks wearing Minnesota United gear. Rest assured that we are working hard to get our hands on more merchandise, including enough scarves for everyone. We expect to have many more items available for purchase through our website before the end of the month, so keep checking for updates. We also plan to sell merchandise outside the Metrodome before the May 4 game.
We decided to try a few afternoon start times this year, to see how it worked for fans, and this past Saturday was our first such experiment. We haven’t drawn any conclusions just yet, but we would love to hear from you on this. We would also welcome any other feedback that you might have about ways we can improve your experience at every one of our games.
Thanks to all of you for your support and attendance. If you can, please join us for our Official Viewing Party this Saturday at the Nomad World Pub as we travel to Atlanta for our first road game of the year. Of course, I hope to see you at the Metrodome on May the 4th for the 7:00 pm match against the Carolina RailHawks. We have two goals for that next home game match: another win and a great fan turnout—so be sure to get your tickets and bring along some friends. The time is now!
