Weekend Community Roundup
With summer weather finally here, Minnesota United FC was active in the community last weekend, beginning Friday, June 14 with a player visit to the White Bear Lake YMCA Summer Camp. Travis Wall and Kevin Venegas took the opportunity to hang out with the kids, play games, take pictures, and sign autographs. The kids took full advantage of the players’ appearances and were physically active, playing soccer-related games and taking part in mini-competitions that got the kids roaring for more. The day ended with a quick trivia session in which the players received many interesting responses to their questions but only the winners were awarded with attractive Minnesota United FC prizes.
The Loon Squad was out and about at the PARKtacular event spreading the word on Minnesota United. PARKtacular is an annual event held to celebrate the community of St. Louis Park where everyone and anyone were welcome. The Grand Day Parade around the local community attracted a large crowd excited to interact with the different attractions. The heavy precipitation did not stop the Loon Squad from converting the X-Men, Circus Clowns, and Darth Sidious with his padawan learners to Minnesota United FC fans. Kids flocked to the booth to kick around with the Loon Squad giving them the ultimate soccer experience!
Justin Davis, Travis Wall, Daryl Sattler and Aaron Pitchkolan took the Stone Arch Bridge by storm interacting with people from diverse cultures at the Stone Arch Bridge Festival. The players were excited to have a kick-about with anyone who was willing. Minnesota United challenged anyone who was brave enough to a header challenge where participants would sit in between two United players while they would head the ball back and forth till the participant ‘chickened’ out. There was a large turnout at the festival and it was a perfect day to interact with fans and get to know the communities around just a little better.
