Minnesota United Agrees to Player Exchange With Carolina RailHawks
MINNEAPOLIS (July 25, 2013) – With a little over a week before Minnesota United FC is set to open the 2013 NASL Fall Season, United has agreed to a player exchange with the Carolina RailHawks – exchanging United midfielder Byran Arguez for RailHawks midfielder Floyd Franks, pending NASL and USSF approval. Franks will join Minnesota United for the 2013 Fall Season, beginning August 3, when Minnesota United hosts the Atlanta Silverbacks, 7:00 PM at the National Sports Center Stadium in Blaine, Minn.
Over four seasons of service with the RailHawks, Franks played in over 70 matches leading the RailHawks to a second-place finish in the 2013 NASL Spring Season. In 2013, Franks appeared in 10 matches over all competitions, starting all 10 and scoring 3 goals.
“He’s been very good in our league for many years,” Lagos said of Franks. “He’s a tough nose two-way midfielder and he’s going to provide a lot of the leadership that we want in the middle of the field. I’m just excited to add another quality player to the roster.”
On Arguez, the 6’2” midfielder, “It never really got off the way he wanted to,” Lagos said of Arguez. “The environment was kind of a cool spring and he’s a southern guy. We didn’t quite get him going the way we wanted to. You always want things to work out but sometimes they don’t.”
Bryan Arguez signed with Minnesota United FC in December of 2012 after playing on loan with FC Edmonton from the Montreal Impact for the 2012 season. Arguez saw action in 6 games for United during the 2013 Spring Season, making 5 starts, while playing 394 minutes and tallying 6 shots on goal.
Franks will join Minnesota United for the 2013 Fall Season, beginning August 3, when Minnesota United hosts the Atlanta Silverbacks, 7:00 PM at the National Sports Center Stadium in Blaine, Minn. Join us for the Home Opener by calling 763.331.8777 or visit us online at www.MNUnitedFC.com
